Subdomain Setup and Configuration

Set up a subdomain for your ChangeCrab changelog. Subdomains provide a free, easy way to give your changelog a custom URL like yourname.changecrab.com.

What is a Subdomain?

A subdomain is a part of a larger domain. For ChangeCrab, your subdomain creates a URL like:

https://yourname.changecrab.com

Subdomains are:

  • Free - Included with all ChangeCrab plans
  • Easy to Set Up - No DNS configuration required
  • Automatic SSL - HTTPS enabled automatically

Setting Up a Subdomain

Step 1: Choose Your Subdomain

When creating a changelog or in settings, enter your desired subdomain name. Requirements:

  • 3-50 characters long
  • Letters, numbers, and hyphens only
  • Must be unique (not already taken)
  • No spaces or special characters

Step 2: Verify Availability

ChangeCrab will check if your subdomain is available. If taken, try:

  • Adding numbers or hyphens
  • Using a different variation
  • Combining words

Step 3: Save Your Subdomain

Once you've chosen an available subdomain, save your settings. Your changelog will be accessible at:

https://yourname.changecrab.com

Changing Your Subdomain

You can change your subdomain later:

  1. Go to Settings >gt; Basic Settings
  2. Update the subdomain field
  3. Save changes
  4. Your old URL will redirect to the new one

Note: Changing your subdomain may affect bookmarks and external links. Consider this carefully.

Subdomain vs Custom Domain

Subdomains are great for getting started, but custom domains offer more branding:
