Basic Settings Configuration

Configure basic settings for your changelog including name, description, and general preferences. These settings form the foundation of your changelog's identity.

Accessing Basic Settings

To access basic settings:

  1. Open your changelog
  2. Go to Settings >gt; Basic Settings or Page Settings
  3. Modify the settings you want to change
  4. Click "Save"

Settings Available

Changelog Name

The name of your changelog appears:

  • In the page title
  • In RSS feeds
  • In email notifications
  • In the dashboard

Description

A brief description of your changelog. This appears:

  • In meta descriptions
  • In RSS feeds
  • As a subtitle on your changelog page

Subdomain

Your changelog's subdomain (e.g., yourname.changecrab.com). You can change this, but it must be unique.

Privacy Settings

Control who can view your changelog:

  • Public - Anyone can view
  • Private - Only accessible within ChangeCrab

Display Options

  • Show Branding - Display ChangeCrab branding
  • Show Creator - Show who created each entry
  • Show Subscriber Count - Display number of subscribers
  • Show Social Links - Display social media links

Google Analytics 4 (GA4)

Add Google Analytics 4 tracking to your public changelog page. Enter your GA4 Measurement ID (format: G-XXXXXXXXXX).

Note: Universal Analytics (UA-*) is no longer supported by Google as of July 1, 2023. Only GA4 Measurement IDs are supported.

To find your GA4 Measurement ID:

  1. Go to your Google Analytics account
  2. Navigate to Admin >gt; Data Streams
  3. Select your web stream
  4. Copy the Measurement ID (starts with G-)

Best Practices

  • Choose a clear, descriptive name
  • Write a helpful description
  • Select a memorable subdomain
  • Configure privacy appropriately
