How to Edit Changelog Entries

Learn how to edit and update your changelog entries in ChangeCrab. Modify content, update categories, change publication status, and keep your changelog up to date.

Accessing the Editor

To edit an entry:

  1. Open your changelog editor
  2. Find the entry you want to edit in the entries list
  3. Click on the entry or click the "Edit" button
  4. The editor will open with the entry content

What You Can Edit

You can modify:

  • Summary/Title - The entry heading
  • Content - The main markdown content
  • Categories - Change or add categories
  • Publication Status - Publish, unpublish, or save as draft
  • Publish Date - Change when the entry was published
  • Link - External link associated with the entry

Editing Steps

Step 1: Make Your Changes

Use the markdown editor to modify the content. You can:

  • Edit text directly
  • Add or remove formatting
  • Insert images or code blocks
  • Update links

Step 2: Update Categories

Change categories by:

  1. Click the category selector
  2. Select or deselect categories
  3. Changes apply immediately

Step 3: Save Your Changes

Click "Save" to update the entry. Changes are saved immediately and visible on the public changelog (if published).

Draft vs Published

You can change an entry's status:

  • Publish - Make a draft entry public
  • Unpublish - Convert a published entry to draft
  • Schedule - Set a future publication date

Bulk Editing

While ChangeCrab doesn't currently support bulk editing in the UI, you can:

  • Use the API for programmatic bulk updates
  • Export entries, edit externally, and re-import

Version History

ChangeCrab automatically tracks when entries are modified. The "Last Updated" timestamp shows when changes were made.

Best Practices

  • Review Before Publishing - Always review changes before making them public
  • Use Drafts - Save as draft while making major changes
  • Update Dates - Adjust publish date if making significant changes
  • Notify Subscribers - Consider notifying subscribers of major updates
