Subscribers can now opt in or out of specific updates based on their preference
We have rolled out a set of improvements to Changecrab that give both subscribers and changelog owners more control, better visibility, and a smoother experience overall. These updates focus on subscriber preferences and category-based notifications, helping teams deliver more relevant updates while reducing unnecessary email noise.
If you use Changecrab to communicate product updates, these changes are designed to make your changelog more useful, more targeted, and easier to manage.
Subscribers now have full control over which changelog categories they receive updates for. Instead of getting every update by default, they can tailor notifications to match what they actually care about.
When someone subscribes to a changelog, they are offered an "All categories" option by default. From there, they can also choose specific categories and exclude anything that is not relevant to them. This makes Changecrab notifications more personal and more valuable.
Every notification email now includes a "Manage preferences" link. Subscribers can update their category selections at any time, without needing to log in or remember an account password. This removes friction and makes it more likely that subscribers stay engaged rather than unsubscribe completely.
If a subscriber has selected "All categories", any new categories you add to your changelog will automatically be included. There is nothing extra for them to manage, and they will never miss an important update.
Alongside subscriber improvements, we have added several features to make managing your audience easier and more transparent.
The Subscribers page now shows a clear breakdown of which categories each subscriber is opted into. This gives you a better understanding of what your audience is interested in and how they engage with your updates.
You can now edit a subscriber’s category preferences directly from the admin panel. This is useful for support requests, onboarding adjustments, or correcting mistakes without asking the subscriber to take action themselves.
For subscribers who use custom category selections, you can bulk add or remove categories across the board. This is especially helpful when introducing new categories or restructuring existing ones.
Subscribers can now be unsubscribed or re-subscribed without being removed from your list entirely. This preserves historical data and makes it easy to re-enable notifications if needed.
Email updates have also been refined to reflect these new capabilities.
These updates make Changecrab a more flexible and subscriber-friendly changelog tool. Subscribers get relevant updates without clutter, and changelog owners gain better control and insight into their audience.
If you are using Changecrab to share product updates, feature releases, or important announcements, these changes help ensure the right people see the right updates at the right time.
As always, we would love to hear your feedback as you start using these new features.
